For years engineering educators have been extolling the benefits of alternative approaches to the traditional on-campus laboratory experience. From flipped and blended learning to hybrid and remote experiences, the promise of an off-campus hands-on experience has been an alluring one for both educators and students, even prior to the current COVID-19 pandemic. However, the implementation of these approaches, especially without sacrificing the hands-on experiences that we know are essential to modern engineering, has remained challenging.

In this webinar Peter Martin, Senior R&D Manager at Quanser will present a variety of approaches to leverage all of these educational paradigms in your Quanser lab quickly and easily. Starting from a collection of potential approaches to how students interact with hardware in a laboratory, Peter will demonstrate implementation examples that capture the variety, flexibility, and expandability that the Quanser software and hardware platforms offer.

Presenter Bio
Peter Martin, M.A.Sc., is an engineering education specialist who has been a member of the Quanser R&D team for ten years. As Senior R&D Manager Academic, Peter is responsible for the vision, strategy, and management of the academic team and product owner for core educational platforms and products including software applications, curriculum, and mobile apps. Peter currently manages several project teams developing the next generation of virtual and remote lab platforms and the Quanser robotic manipulator. Peter is also heavily involved in product marketing and technical sales. Before starting at Quanser, Peter was a laboratory engineer and consulting mechatronics engineer at the University of Toronto, and once Spiderman for a summer.
